WorldAuto

This software is a multimedia catalogue describing most car makes actually produced by automobile industry:

  • 27 countries
  • 124 brands
  • over 600 car models
  • over 5000 car types

Each type has more than 100 technical characteristics and up to 5 pictures. Two versions of catalogue are available: a standalone Win32 application (written in Delphi), and its Web-based analog (AutoSearch). A detailed picture catalogue exceeds 600 Mb in size.

To simplify data search, we provided two kinds of navigation: hierarchical and random. The hierarchical navigation: the data tree on the left side of the screen gives an opportunity to browse the information by country, make, model and type. Like in Windows Explorer, the user can open and close nodes and quickly come to the information he is interested in.

Random navigation enables the use of search components: it is possible to search among any technical characteristics.

On the right side of the screen the information about the selected car and its picture are displayed. The user can run a slide show to see a number of large pictures appearing to background music.

When the selected data analysis is required, it is possible to put the search results into a sort of a "shopping cart" - a so-called "garage", where it is possible to navigate exactly in the same way as through the basic data (i.e. the hierarchical and random methods of navigation are used). It is really convenient to handle large amounts of information in this way. After the search through the basic data is over, the user can open his "garage". The data will be represented there in the same way as they were arranged during the search and it will be possible to use the hierarchical and random navigation methods similarly.

The "garage" allows to compare technical characteristics of different cars, which can be extremely useful when detailed comparison is needed. Saving the cars selected in the "garage" into a file, the user can review his list any time later. It is easy to run a slide show for these cars placing them into a required sequence.

All the catalogue data are printable.

We have also developed and integrated a special module that allows to see car dealers of any German region by clicking on the map of Germany.

In WorldAuto, we have used a number of components of our own production. These Linear and Ring sliders shown below are only some of them.
