Challenge

The customer turned to our mobile development team to develop a unique application for online shopping using AR technology that should allow customers to virtually place products in their real-world environment, giving them a realistic sense of how the item would look and fit in their space. Users should have a possibility to interact with virtual objects, explore different product variations, and access additional information about the products in a visually engaging way.

Approach

Our team designed and developed an app with Augmented Reality from scratch. We created an intuitive and visually appealing UI/UX design for the shopping app, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience. We focused on simplicity, ease of navigation, and clear product presentation. We built a secure and scalable backend to handle user authentication, product catalogue management, inventory, order processing, and other necessary functionalities. While utilising AR development tools and libraries we integrated AR features into this app including product visualisation, 3D object rendering, marker detection, tracking, and gesture recognition.We also integrated a secure payment gateway to enable users to make purchases within the app.

Main Functions

  • Product Visualisation allows users to view and visualise products in the real-world environment using AR.
  • Virtual Try-On: virtual representations of the items on the user's live camera feed, giving them an interactive and realistic sense of how the products would look on them.
  • 3D Object Rendering allows users to rotate, zoom in/out, and interact with 3D models of products, enabling a closer examination and a better understanding of the product's design and features.
  • Marker Detection and Tracking involves detecting and tracking predefined markers, such as QR codes or image targets. This feature allows users to scan specific markers with their device's camera and view associated AR content, such as product information, promotions, or additional images.
  • Interactive Product Information: users can access detailed descriptions, specifications, customer reviews, and pricing information directly within the AR view, providing a comprehensive understanding of the product.
  • Wishlist and Favourites: enables users to create and manage wish lists or favourites lists within the app. Users can save products they are interested in, receive notifications for price changes or restocks, and easily access their saved items for future reference or purchase.
  • Personalization and Recommendations: by analysing user purchase history, browsing behaviour, and user profiles, the app can suggest relevant products to users, enhancing the personalised shopping experience.
  • Seamless Shopping Integration: users can easily add products to a cart, proceed to checkout, and complete purchases within the app.
  • Reviews and Ratings: users provide reviews and ratings for products they have purchased or experienced through AR. This feature enables users to share their opinions and experiences, helping other users make informed decisions.
